My first hi-fi diy job

Yet to finish it but getting there

tt.jpg

It has a michell inverted brass bearing - Michell platter and DC motor - RB250 rewired with silver single run loom - Isokinetik end stub and weight

I have isolated the arm board from the table with O rings then the arm from the arm board with O rings + O rings on the arm lift and tube to dampen them. The motor housing is filled with sand then damped with 2 O rings.

Cartridge is a Denon DL 160 phono stage is a Cambridge 640p although i have just bought a Black Cube SE (waiting on delivery)

Anyone local to me want a listen and cast an opinion give me a shout

Chris

That looks like fun Chris; nice project and different from the norm.

- oh, and whereabouts are you?

DIY Turntable

Hi Chris very nice job, would love to have a listen but im up in deepest darkest Yorkshire. I would like to ask if I may, where did you get the motor and bearing from. I am also considering doing a turntable build and any info on procuring good materials would be appreciated.
Best Regards
Dave

Hi Dave

Thanks :-)

I got the motor and bearing from http://www.analogueseduction.net/ http://www.analogueseduction.net/

They offer very good service and keep you upto date on orders. I did consider the Ebay standalone motors at 80quid but read some 50/50 reviews so thought at least the michell DC has an upgrade path and is of high quality to start with.

The plater i got from ebay 80 quid used. Birch ply from ebay from the hobbies shop as its good quality 9mm

Hope that helps some

Chris

Hi Chris,

thanks for the info, I too saw the cheap Ebay stuff and was unsure of the quality and agree that the motor with speed accuracy top trumps a lot of the design aspect.

Thanks again my friend, PS are you considering doing a review when it 'beds in' ?.

Hi Dave

Na i'm not experienced enough to review it but anyone who wants to can :-) It sounds good to me a definite improvement over my Pro-ject Xperience deck
