In a world of pain
NAD have just announced their Netcap (sounds like a naim computer powersupply) box, which is a network streaming device.

Interestingly, it not only handles the expected music formats by wired or wireless networking, but also DivX and MPEG video formats, with component, composite and S-video outputs. It can also handle still image formats. It will also accept streams from the net as well as local servers.

The only thing that seems to be missing is a DVI output.

What really got me though was how reasonably priced it is, at £350.

looks nice, however a display for music only listening would have been as good idea as it's going to have the same problem as dvd-a. i.e. you need to have the tv on in order to use it.
scarts would have been useful.
no alc or flac so ultimate quality will be compromised.
also an iec on the back may have been a good idea too.
cheers

Sooo, apart from the above you think it's quite good? ;)

Very nice - wouldn't mind one myself. I'm a bit surprised actually, as I thought NAD weren't the kind that were particularly innovative. They've always appeared to me to be more concerned about the basic functions/the music rather than loads of gizmos. Hopefully it will sell well for them!

Nice. Important question is though, when are they going to put one in a heavyweight matt silver case and sell it for £1200? :D
