Hi,

Have got into a bit of a muddle on connections for a NAC 72 (the potential partner for my nap 140). Can any one put me straight, please?

Accoding to naim equipment overview they have 5 inputs; looking at the picture in front of me of an example they are labelled as;

1) phono

2) cd

3)tuner

4) tape 1 (presumably for playing tapes)

5) tape 2 ( for recording tapes, therefore an output)

so, 4 inputs so far

also,

6) one labelled named "output".

7) one labelled out put to hi cap.

Therefore if I'm using just a 72/140combo without out a hi cap power supply;

a) whats the socket labelled "output " used for?

b) Which plug do i use to connect the 72 to the NAP?

C) DO we actually have 5 inputs?

d) My 140 has a 5 pin din socket - most NACS seem to use a 4 pin SNAIC. Is this going to be a problem?

Many thanks!

David

Connect socket 5 of the 72 to the amp. However, you need a shorting plug in socket 6 if you don't use a hicap. Do you have the plug (a dime-sized black plastic plug with pins). You will also need a SNAIC4 (4 pin DIN to 4 pin DIN) interconnect. Are you absolutely sure you have a 5 pin socket on the 140 (the 140 should have a single 4 pin socket)? The naim manuals all show a 4 pin (?!)

Keith,

No, I think you're right looking at it again I think it IS four pin. Good thinking. Makes life a lot easier!

I don't have the plug, will get one.

Many thanks for your note, Keith. Helpful.
