Dont Shout at me because i want to get rid of my naim . My house boss says I can upgrade my cd but not to another naim ( looks - women ) I can afford up to £4k but preferably second hand .
Main question is what has similar(ish) sound but better if any as I am trying to narrow down my listening tests . I honesty find it difficult to describe but I am happy with sound . ( naim eslab proac )

Similar sound to Naim....difficult one, given that not only the amps, but the CD players have a very much individual sound character.

I could suggest some of the Wadias which tend to have a dry and very well controlled sound, with plenty of detail, and may suit your budget.
The Levinson players also have a very neutral and tight sound, but may sound a bit flat by comparison with your Naim.

Linn CD12's are still too expensive, but would be a beautiful alternative, both style-wise and for sound quality.

Densen B-400XS

I'll second the Densen recommendation. I've not heard it myself, but the B-400XS is supposed to be a belter - looks good too, so should keep "the boss" happy!

Your "house boss" doesn't like the look of Naim stuff?? Whatever anyone may think of Naim kit, you could hardly call it ugly. The new stuff looks decidedly good IMO. Very low key and minimalist, I like it.

Michael.

the naims black and it doesn't fit in with the gryro and the eslab . I have to go moderistic if possible to keep happiness in the family.
