Neutrik chassis sockets

    They have the 3 lugs labelled 1, 2 and 3 for soldering -ve, +ve and GND respectively but there's a 4th lug separate from the rest that looks like an earth lug. Why would they have a separate earth lug if pin 3 is already GND? Can I just leave it or what am I supposed to do with it?

    pin 1 is earth,2 + and 3 - (2 hot 3 not),as for the lug its there if you want to earth the plug chasis to case earth as the earth pin on the xlr might be at a diffrent potential to the case earth,in most cases i leave it unconected
