anyone heard it? i think i've heard one track from the new album on the radio. it was ok and seemed a bit of a grower but has anyone heard the album?
also is it ripable with eac?
cheers

julian

Julian2002, a quick sniff around the torrent trackers indicated that there are copies floating around on the net so I assume it must be ripable, and more than likely by EAC as that is the internet audio distributors tool of choice :)

hi julian

you might want to look out for jules holland repeats. They were on earier this week with tracks from the album 'roots'. Sounded pretty good.

Hats off to Bobby Womack for a live performance of across 110th street. Dean, if you're reading did you catch it?

thanks guys,
i'm not actually interested in distributing it or downloading it (as i use flac whilst most downloadable music is mp3 of dubious quality) just that i understand the cd is 'protected' and i've had some trouble with ripping some protected cds with eac - which had to be solved by turningoff the error correction - and hence potentially lowering quality.

chris,
any idea when the jools holland stuff is repeated?
cheers

Hi Chris,

Hats off to Bobby Womack for a live performance of across 110th street. Dean, if you're reading did you catch it?

I didn't. :( . I only saw bits of the programme. Bobby has been doing a few gigs in England. He did some dates in London & Manchester at the end of last month.

He has just released his version of California dreaming as a single. It contains also the songs 'Looking for a love' & ''Holdin' on to my baby's love.'

Looks like I missed a very good gig.

i bought the Faithless album- No Roots yesterday. Complete crap imo. Even worse than Introspective and not a patch on Irreverence/Reverence let alone Sunday 8pm/Sat 3am. So if you're expecting quality melody lines, classic lyrics and deep, pounding bass lines you'll be disappointed. It's all too charty and poppy for my tastes.

If anyone doesn't have Irreverence/Reverence or Sunday 8pm/Sat 3am double discs make sure you get them. Absolutely sublime discs with only one or two duff tracks per disc. :) Brilliant sound quality, memorable tunes with some fantastic lyrical lines

rory,
i must say i quite liked it. yes it was more laid back / poppy than their earlier stuff but i think it suits them.
cheers

interesting. their previous album, Introspective or whatever its called took absolutely ages to grow on me so we'll have to see. Its just one listen to Irreverence or Sunday 8pm and i'm blown away and i just think they've gone rapidly downhill. interesting to get different angles on things though although music is of course very opinionistic.

I'm not a fan of this album actually :(, Mass Destruction (the version released rather than the 'original' version) is the only track that I can really say I like. Which is a shame since a load of my friends wax lyrical about how good Faithless are, but then again they would be the ones most likely to be found in Godskitchen of a weekend so any group who releases a track as good as 'Insomnia' for clubbing can do no wrong.

:)

Introspective was my favorite to date, so goes to show how opinions differ!

Havent got 'Roots' yet, but its a must buy :)

Chris

don't get me wrong irreverence is their best work, no doubt. however i'd say no roots only real weakness is that there's no anthemic insomnia equivalent. unfortunately they have a lot to live up to but they're head and shoulders above 70% of the rest of the chart.
on a slight tangent, it ripped no problem using eac and flac so no probs there. the error corrector did go mental first time though but you can set eac to use less error correction (this results in potentially a lower quality rip - buggered if i can tell though).
cheers

julian.
