THANKS FOR THE HISTORY LESSON

this concept British - defined in the 18th and 19th centuries as 'not French and not Catholic' - is a bit slippery. It is what's inside, who sells it, where it's sold, how its made, which brings us back to the question - why ask?

BEFORE THE DAWN OF TIME.... OR WAS IT THE 1950'S? A BRITISH PRODUCT ESPECIALLY IN HI-FI WAS A BEACON OF QUALITY IN A LACK LUSTRE WORLD.. I JUST THINK IT SAD THAT CONCEPT NO LONGER APPLIES, AS YOU QUITE RIGHTLY POINT OUT, IT IS WHERE IT IS SOLD
& WHO SELLS IT THAT COUNTS . I PROMISE NOT TO ASK THE QUESTION AGAIN :(

I tend to find newer stuff is more expensive than an old equivalent.

MAYBE, BUT NOT SURE THAT APPLIES TO THE SECOND HAND MARKET THOUGH ALEX. A BASIC LINN SONDEK ALWAYS SEEMS TO SELL FOR LESS THAN A GARRARD 301

'ooo u callin rusty?

What you say just backs up my belief of being re-born after death.

I THINK YOU MAYBE RIGHT ...

BUT THINK A LITTLE DEEPER.... THE STUFF FROM THE PAST IS NOW THE NEW STUFF ..THINK GARRARD 301 MANIFESTING INTO A 501... OR AN OLD VALVE AMP DRESSING UP IN NEW CLOTHES, TO BE SOLD TO A MISGUIDED PUBLIC....OR ARE THEY?......DEEEEEEEEP !!;)

MY HOBBY IS SHOUTING!

for the record, or rather the CD, I have old British stuff (AudioSynthesis & epos), tho the grunt is American. All jolly good stuff that sounds just dandy!

My hifi is British-made, apart from the cartridge (made in Holland) and the speakers (made in Denmark or possibly Sweden)

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'VE BEEN REBORN AS DILLON & I DON'T MEAN BOB.

SORRY RUSTY, ... I MEAN DILLON ..... I MEAN ...:p

You know that key you pressed that turns all your letters in to CAPITAL letters?
If you press it again it turns them back to lower case letters, much more polite and less irritating.

I think that Bob and the character in mAgIc rOuNdAbOuT are both Dylan - but I may be wRoNg

gosh i see what you mean. do you think that the use of caps is ever justified or are you of the view that the shift key is shifty under any circumstances? anyway, wasn't the caps lock key originally put there for numeric data entry?

regards
steve

Its all nonsense and snake oil - the old stuff and the new stuff all sound the same and if anyone says any different they are imagining it.

PS. before you start, yes I am deaf!!

Yep shift is shifty as a shifter

I think you may be right about the original use.

Tsk. You had to go and do it. Its all fun and games until someone gets one in the eye.

Take a '¦' and a '€'!

You can keep your pesky SysRq. (and no pasting asci char's to cheat! - and no using foreign keyboard layouts!)

Long live the mighty AltGr - king of the keys.
