    Hi,

This is the listening room of my Mum and Dads (long awaited) new place.

You'll gather from the speaker on the book shelf idea....sonics have taken a back seat to convenience...but we are interested in any thing quick/easy/cheap modifications that gives a fast reward on listenng pleasure.

Unforunately a decent pair of floor standers is deemed as being unacceptable.

In fairness the speakers are at least steady on the shelves......and give a surprising result.

    Woiuld wall mounting be better?

    Pete?

They look ok there Dave. The right height although the chairs in front may be soaking some information.

Those look like adjustable shelves to me, I'd move them up so they're not firing straight into the back of the arm chairs personally.

I do love billy from ikea !

its the same as in our back room ......

personally I'd have placed the speakers on the next shelf up to clear the chairs ...

the larger holes may be acting as a primative horn loading

I'd try to put something compliant on the shelf to support the speaker ...you know the sort of thing

I'd suggest better cables too looking at the bell wire ...lidel were selling somethicker stuff before christmass at a ridicules price

where is the rest of the kit ...in the cupboards ?

With my Father in law's similarish, all in one system, the cdp was an extra and was plugged in to the amp part by £1.99 (if that) IC, a quick change to a spare I had laying around, Profigold or Cambridge Audio can't remember, made quite a marked improvement my wife and I thought.

He of course could not see the reasoning behind changing cables, and moving towards getting my spare back, was quickly told to leave it, by the missis, as it sounded much better for him:)

Yes......I am not sure how that one is connected up.

I have the feeling its somehow done through connections in the body itself....I don't think there are any cables out the back......or I would have done it long ago.
