How about you read the first line of the body text on this page seeing as Wikipedia is your reference.

"Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is a transparent thermoplastic, often used as a light or shatter-resistant alternative to glass. Chemically, it is the synthetic polymer of methyl methacrylate. The material was developed in 1928 in various laboratories, and was first brought to market in 1933 by Rohm and Haas Company, under the trademark Plexiglas[2]. It has since been sold under many different names."

and if that's not enough for you see where the links on this page take you to.

Richard you are the only person I know who could turn the opportunity to preach about the merits of his own products on an open forum at the request of the mods into a short downward spiral ending in a clusterfuck.

Now are you going to answer the question put to you? here's some help i would start with these paragraph headings.

What plastic does.
What it does not
What metal does
What it does not
Why plastic is better than metal technically
Why plastic is better for my products
how these benefit manifest themselves in audio terms.

If you pay me I'll even write it for you. ;-)

ffs.

This is supposed to be a ''new subject thread''.

I dont think on the lips of the avid forum browser looking for entertainment in the hifi world is the over-encompasing question -

is acrylic the same as plastic?

I could give a rats-ass personally.

Yes, what's good and what's bad about this material, be it amplifier case, TT chassis, arm, etc.

I have reported this post as an example of exactly what I said would happen.

<post in question edited - Rob>

But to answer the minor point that this man has partially correctly made, both glass and acrylic can now, in thin up to 5mm thicknesses be cast extruded, meaning that the casting is a continuous process as opposed to a fixed process. But the process is still completely different to extruding polymers.

Well, I really have never been so offended, how dare you accuse me of being a man without any proof to back up your spurious claim.
For your information I classify myself as a Lady Boy.
I feel fully justified in reporting your post to the moderators, such blatant sexist homophobic rabid lies have no place on this or any forum. In fact
I will tell you now, if nothing is done to put a stop to such behaviour I shall be out of here (this thread only) as I can then continue to let the world know how unfairly I am treated.
You should know that during my formative years I suffered an inconsequential accident, complications have left me without any sense of humour, irony or humility.
Therefore Richard I feel we have more in common than you might realise, we should band together and start a new forum dedicated to the education of the plebeian masses on any subject we fancy at the time, we can then also claim groundless insults against our persons in stereo

Further; extruded acrylic is available up to at least 8mm thick.

Love and kisses Granville

The idiot has just left.

Richard, you need some treatment for that persecution complex.

You were asked a perfectly reasonable question and your own paranoia has ruined the thread.
A simple answer would of sufficed, not going off the rails on a tangent.
