I am planning to go to an all night club on new years eve. God knows how I am going to get back though. No buses on new years day.:(

And flagging a taxi may be very hard. I was supposed to go out on Christmas Eve too but I would much rather just stay in ans relax. Having a hangover on christmas day aint fun.

I'm at an all-nighter in the Stratford Rex in London - the last EVER Astral Phoenix.

It's going to be bangin', no-one will get out alive!

AT - you'd be surprised - taxis usually hang around outside clubs at kickout on NYD - even at smaller places like EQ in Hackney Wick. Bear in mind it's TRIPLE time on NYD though - so be prepared to pay muchos dollars!

At least the IC125s will be running from Paddington back to Exeter so that's a start...

Good to keep up the traditions! I always go to the local tar barrel on Christmas morning, a burning barrel on wheels towed by a crew of about 30 of us all fuelled up on whisky with air bombs, blank firing guns of all descriptions, air horns, a huge Claxton and the old traditional bell all going full tilt with lots of shouting too, just like a war zone! When the route's finished back to base and tuck into copious quantity's of beer and people get jammin on the guitars, banjos and fiddles, pie eyed before the Christmas dinner, last year I couldn't remember the dinner

Makes Christmas day that bit more interesting :MILD:

Which school did you go to 'Gambit'?

Is the 'Cav' still in full swing, whatever name it trades under these days?

St Augustines, then Saint Mary's College.

The Cav became Peppermint Place, became Utopia as it is now, and remains the shithole it always has been and it thouroughly avoided to this day ;)

ah, St marys - just up the road from the barely posh one that i went to :newbie: :shame:

Ah yes, it was in fact Utopia the last time i had the pleasure. I must agree with your appraisal though.

I used to work in Blakeys and various other haunts at one time or another  - been a fair old while since i've been back up there though.

You've tinged my Thursday afternoon with nostalgia :)

Sorry to disrupt the thread..................i'm working New Year - there back on topic :)

Went down to sunny Slough not too long ago to visit Pioneer. Looks nice :)

It can't be worse than Blackburn can it?

Blackburn has cheap housing if nothing else.

Slough has a nice big bingo hall though, with at least one premium lager on tap.

I have few relatives in Blackburn now, and those that are there, i don't like very much. Hence i haven't had the pleasure of visiting in a couple of years. I go to Accy every now and again, and M/chester quite regularly, but that's about it in those parts.

Oh, Slough also boasts the highest burglary rate in the country IIRC, among other accolades.

It is also host to two Kwik Fit outlets, which surely is a greasy stain upon any self respecting town.........

    cheers
