OK . Last year I made a new years resolution not to get myself wound up by comments made to me, or about me on internet discussion forums. For the most part I have managed to do this. I have realised that these comments are often just personal opinions expressed by others who are entitled to that opinion and i shouldn't be too precious or protective when often no real malice is intended. The addition of emoticons does go someway to diffusing potential arguments , however the sooner somebody designs a better and more obvious 'tongue in Cheek' emoticon the better, a wink doesn't always suffice.

OK for this year my internet discussion forum New Years resolution is to not get involved in any Political or 'World news/Topical discussions.
As long as i keep gettingt paid for the honest days work that i do and the Government doesn't take too much of my hard earned from me then I'm reasonably happy.
I am not really that politically orientated and so will try really hard to keep my nose and my big mouth shut regarding these political arguments and discussions that seem to be cropping up all over the place these days.
It is obvious that some folk get an immense sense of pleasure from jousting at the dispatch box or speakers corner, and demonstrating to all, their wide ranging knowledge of such subjects. I often suspect though that not all of these discussions are started with good intention, incitement to start a flame war being too much of a drug for some.
It is very apparent that not all socialists are actually sociable and not all tree huggers actually hug tree's.

Look see, i can't help myself. I genuinely started this thread with the intention of basically say I would only involve myself in Music or Hi-Fi related discussions next year and then wen't and made some vaguely and mildly political statements. Is there any hope for me to keep my mouth shut.

OK so thats mine. Hi-Fi and Music only next year. Make sure you remind me of this if you see me stray.

I think I can work on this too (except for number 1 - I'm a slender 14 stone)...
just ask my girlfriend...sigh...

Isn,t 13 stone a tad low for your height Ju ?
I seem to recall WM saying you about 9ft3 :D (approx height of the side of a brick shithouse)
Seriously now, your about 6ft4 arn,t you ?
Which still makes me think 13 is a bit low .
My resoulution this year is to keep the weight off and get into better shape .
I lost 3.5 stone through the summer , so now I,m back to a trim(+lovehandles)12.5 stone .

Here are mine:

1. Spend more time with my wife
2. Spend more time listening to music
3. Spend more time road cycling
4. Spend more time reading
5. Spend more time with friends
6. Spend less time watching TV
7. Spend less time working
8. Spend less time on the Internet
9. Spend less on wine, more on CDs
10. Achieve ideal weight (a couple kilos to lose)

Gourmet eating and wine drinking items deleted (conflicting with 9 and 10) ;)

Happy holidays to all

To go and hear my proposed final upgrade (a pair of Quad ESL 57s) and find out whether I actually want them as much as I think I want them.

Drink and eat less -> lose weight (I am heading in the right direction, but still a little on the heavy side for my height :()

Spend less on my credit card. I've started spending less already though, my bill for October to November was £460 which is frankly horrific for a student with no job, but I've paid it all off and my bill this month is less than £80....self discipline there, so my new years resolution is to carry on being a bit more sensible with the plastic.

Get a part time job at uni.

Revise/prepare more for assignments at uni (got three 2:2s so far for essays done the night before they were due, so i figure actually doing some preparation might help)

Take up canoeing again.

Stop being so nice to people that don't deserve it.

Think that about covers it :)

1) Lose the weight I will have put on over Xmas

2) Spend more time and money enjoying myself

3) Stop reading hifi magazines

4) Stop browsing hifi fora

5) Make more time for friends
