Received this (unsolicited) today...

Hello sir/madam,

My name is *** *** and I am from Valencia, Spain.I
was browsing the eBay listings and I saw that you have pleaced a bid on a
auction at eBay and I think I can help you with an offer. I have the
same item for selling at a very low price. My product :Superb Linn Sondek LP12 turntable is only 300 GBP and the price can be
negociated. Do not worry about the shipping taxes because it will be payed by me.
My feedback on ebay shows that I am honest and I really mean
business.
Please contact me if you need information about the product that I have
or about the transaction.

Sounds like a great deal to me..think I might go for it, whaddya think??
:JPS:

If it looks to good to be true, it probabley is !!

And

There's no such thing as a free lunch !

Also

If you have no lead in your pencil,
you don't need a rubber.

I think I might just give that one a miss !

I had a very official looking email purporting to come from Ebay last week stating that a security check was being carried out and asking me to click on the link and log in with my user name and password.

Needless to say I didn't but I have heard rumours of stolen user names which include high feedback ratings and presume that this is one of the ways that people acquire them.

My feedback was two so they must be getting desperate :D

Linn sondeks are VERY VERY rare in spain, and they certainly don't sell for £300.

interesting...thought I'd go & have a look at his ePay record..through his ePay member name.

1059 positive feedbacks,
all that I can see as a purchaser (not a single sell that I can see),
mainly of model cars (didn't look too hard, but nothing but model cars that i saw..)

Sooo..

e-mail I got was from 'Francois Brougierre' (Michaelab, I hope this is Ok but it seems like an very real scam to me, so I think best to let people know? - please remove name if not appropriate), supposedly based in Valencia, Spain. I have asked for more details...you never know, there might be a bargain to be had...
I will e-mail the ePay member too, to let him know what might be happening.....

LOL.....Sorry to dissapoint you robs but that guys taking the p... that isn't even a spanish name,if you want to scare the life out of him get his number, and well look into it.

I've had similar emails to the follow the link or reply to this email and confirm your email and password. This was after my hotmail details. Used a name like admin@hotmail or something else official sounding. Forwarded the email to Hotmail though who confirmed it a scam and claimed to track the sender and take apropriate action.

How rude!! No reply from either the shady LP12 seller, or the model car collector.....dammit... Anyone else got an LP12 they want to offload for £50....?

Cash On Delivery of course.

I had a similar thing happen to me when I was bidding on a Primare amp on ebay. THREE  different people emailed me to say they were in ####### (insert name of European country) and had a Primare amp to sell at absurdly low price. Funnily enough, they were all registered in the US as well!
I'd steer clear...
Liam.

Hmmm...just got this e-mail:

Hello,

I saw that you had recently bid on a CAL Delta CD transport. I have one that I was going to sell on eBay this week with a reserve price of $365(USD)+shipping. It is in excellent condition with original box, manual, and remote. I have not put it on eBay yet. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks,

J.G.Johnson

The price isn't that low (for a Cal Delta tranny) so it could be genuine? Seems odd though. In any case, I don't want it as I'm about to get a Teac T1 :)

Michael.

OK - just checked his feedback. 114 and all positive. Oh well, I'll reply and tell him I'm not interested and see what happens. This one looks genuine though (unless of course someone is using his eBay ID).

Michael.
