Bristol - armpit of the west.
sold my old audiolab on epay, the guy recieved it yesterday.
first mail i get from him asks why the caseing is grey and not black like the others he has seen, and also why dont the power amp sockets work.

i replied and explained that -
it is a '89 model as stated in the ad, these had grey case and the later models had black. The power amp side needs a mod to the boards before it works, and to the best of my knowledge all models are the same in this respect.

I then get a reply saying the amp has a strange noise.
i asked him to explain more and he says that it looks like a shield(?) is missing from the board.
I have told him that it sounds like he has taken the amp apart and if that is so i cant take responsibility for it.

I dont ******* believe this.

yea was fine before i sent it, i hooked it up and listened for a while.
Its the way that his first mail was just about the colour and amp inputs, no mention of a problem at all, then all of a sudden it has a fault.
Maybe im cycnical, but seems the fault occured when he realised he bought the wrong thing.

I could really do without this, can see myself loosing out all round:rolleyes:

Do you normally have this amount of luck Pen? :(

Well, you know what they say about things happening in 3's (amp, bike, amp), so hopefully things can't get any worse.

i hope yer right Henry.
bloke with other amp is being a right pain aswell.
Completely skint over this now, and G/F's birthday in 2 weeks.
Anyone wanna kick while im on the floor?

A lesson to be learned here I think..

It has always been my policy to collect expensive goods in person and to have them collected from me, it avoids all this nonsense.

this guy is a class act
first he isnt aware of the early model colurs and doesnt know about the power amp mod needed
now he has sent me an email saying that he knows everything about audiolab as he was a main dealer in the middle east:confused:

yep, im starting to think that.
shame i spent the cash on the AVI's:rolleyes:

He has calmed down now and says he will try different leads, tho i doubt that will help.

Im off to drown me sorrows later i think

Tell him to blow it out of his ass keep your money and change your ebay account if he craps on your feedback...

If you know the goods were fine what else can you do.

Jesus people buying stuff for big bucks sold as seen and whinging about it really annoy me if he was worried he should have collected.

True enough but there it is...

Two wrongs make you right ;) Serously though if it left you intact who's to say he didn't break it...

Well, I've just come back from the post office, sent off my MF T1 tuner to the winning bidder of my recent Ebay auction. I just hope nothing happens to it transit (it's going to be sitting in the depot over the weekend so anything could happen to it but hopefully not). Yes it's going Parcel Farce, despite the track record that everyone's had with them on here recently, I know I'm probably a fool.

penance. sorry to hear you're having trouble (again).

As henry says though! Comes in 3's!

hope it's sorted asap :D

Parcel Force have been pretty good to me over the last few weeks. About a half dozen prompt deliveries with no damage whatsoever. Perhaps they are improving :)

Email this morning, all sorted:D
Was his TV causeing the noise:rolleyes:

hmmm.... does that mean you're one less on your road to three bads?

Good to hear it's sorted though :D

If he's plugging his tele into it, then strange noises, buzzing etc. are commonplace, unless special care is take over earthing. I've even had this at home recently.

Tell him to try it with a proper source (with the tele disconnected!!) and see if it happens then. I'm almost ready to put money on it that it won't.

HTH

Cheers
