Obsidian or Constrained Layer Damping

Cooky, you won't see many for sale if those in the know keep snapping up two in a single day - greedy sods. BTW, the full Technics set-up for auction on eBay is definitely a SCAM, as I've seen the 'same' listing about four times over the last year or so.

Cooky Hi, as I have two and really only need one, if you really want one I can send you some pictures etc, would you like a plinth made for it? Keith.

Kieth, yes please-pics first, then price, then plinth(maybe);-)

Frank I wil wait until both arrive and make sure they both work, send you some pictures, re the plinth, there is a slate option, per haps two pieces of thick slate, possibly with a removable arm-board ( that might be expensive however ) the other idea is birch ply interleaved with lead, removable arm board would be easier in wood, what do you think? Keith.

Kieth,
OK,I'll wait.
Anyone tried marble as one of the layers?
Has anyone experimented with differing armboard materials?
Why I ask is based purely on the assumption you don't want any TT vibe getting into the arm base and some decoupling may be beneficial? What's the perceived wisdom?
I'm off to do a search.

Cooky, unless an SP-10 has a dry or damaged bearing it has practically no vibration and in practice it's 'rumble' is inaudible! Thus, surely, it is best to have the arm as 'fixed' has possible (relative to the motor).
