offboard dac's any good?

I have been wondering about off board dac's and as to wether or not it would improve the sound of my marantz cd 5001 ose
seen a few on e b*y and would like to know as to wether its worth my while trying one
Audio Alchemy DAC*MAN External DAC
Cambridge Audio Dac Magic 2
maybe they could be upgraded?
budget is tight so im only looking for a cheap upgrade
