Optical to Coax

    Question asked to me:

    Whats the best (ie maintain sound quality) of getting an optical out on a cd player to a coax only dac??

    I dont think Im allowed to play with the cd player (boo) but the dac maybe.

    If your allowed to toch the cdp....

    you need
    one good rca socket
    1 short length of coax pref silver plated copper teflon type
    a couple of resistors
    optional pulse transformer

    You need to id the digital signal and digital ground.
    you can solder the wires close to the chip or at the toslink. drill an 8mm hole in the back plate.

    thanks for that. I dont think Im allowed and tbh Im not inclined to do it at the moment, but you never know.

    A Monarchy Audio DIP would do the job, and possibly even improve the sound, but it depends how much you're willing to spend.
