Apart from the Rega tonearms. Are there any other particular tonearms that work good with the LPT?

And how would you guys discribe the sound of the LPT?

Regards.

Helius and Alphason were always popular back in the day, but most will work well. Just avoid really heavy arms such as the old Zeta or some of the FRs.

The decks are tonally pure and neutral and tended to be partnered with arms and cartridges of similar (lack of) character.

Have you had some experience with the Pink Triangle LPT? If so, what tonearms and cartridges were used?

And I see the LPT is the baby of all the Pink Triangle turntables. But have read the LPT is a very neutral sounding turntable.

Only other peoples decks. Never bought one.
Just realised we are talking about the LPT and not the big Pinks. That might pose a problem as IIRC they were drilled for a Rega mount.

With that in mind the choice obviously narrows to the older Rega arms (not the current 3 point mount versions) and others such as Michell.
A used Michell TecnoArm would be a good bet.

You can put just about any cartridge you like on it, other than very high mass designs.

Shame the LPT is only drilled for Rega mounts :(

Well as its an old deck you could always drill out the plate for something else, but there are many Rega and Rega based arms around. Very good they are too..

I have a Pink Triangle LPT-GTI with Rega RB250. Nice sounding turntable with nice midrange and uncoloured sound.

Next, I'll either get my RB250 completely rewired Or try the Roksan Nima tonearm. I somtimes fancy getting an old Rega R200 get it rewird, and try it with the LPT. But maybe that's a bit silly.

Not silly at all.

Check that the R200 bias control is working as the little toothed belt inside perishes.
It isn't a deal breaker but if the belt goes you have to partly dismantle the arm to set the bias value. Ok if you don't swap cartridges often or they all need the same bias.

Just a thought but some of the Jelco arms might fit. The mounting point is very similar (a mm or two difference) and if necessary you could enlarge the pillar hole slightly.

The Rega mounting was taken from the R200, essentially a Japanes OEM arm. You will find a number of quite nice arms with that 222mm mounting distance if you look around. Drilling for a bigger hole is perhaps not something I'd do unless very sure I would want to make that sort of adjustment but spacers for a smaller hole requirement is easy.
Arms that have a spindle to pivot distance of 222mm are:
Grace 707 etc
Audiocraft/Ultracraft arms,
Clearaudio
MicroSeiki
10 inch SME's
Acos GST-1

If you search on Vinyl Engine's tonearm database by spindle to pivot value 222 you will have listed all such arms in their database. Also consider that conversion to an SME slot enables the fitting of a lot of other arms with a suitable adaptor.

The Roksan Tabriz (basic or Zi) would also be an option - fits perfectly fine in Rega mounting holes.

Best,
Oliver

Or you can always try Jeff Spall's Audiomods Rega rework.

Far better than any other RB250/300 update I have tried and even better than the Tabriz in any form,a bargain if bought as a kit and cheaper than a Tabriz if bought assembled.

The LPT was a superb turntable - way better than an lp12 or gyrodeck. I don't think it would disgrace any arm though an sme V would be a bit heavy. The only trouble was reliability...
