Pioneer A-09
This is a very special high end Japanese class A amplifier.
35W into 8 ohms / 70W into 4 Ohms.
It weighs nearly 30kg and is a dual mono design. It is in exceptional condition and has the most wonderful stepped potentiometer! A phono stage is also included in the amplifier.
I was using a Bryston 4BST before I purchased this amplifier. I remember when I collected it from Biscuit to bring it home for a few weeks demo and I thought 'there is no way a Pioneer is going to out class my Bryston'. Well how wrong could I be! Sure it didn't have quite the bass control of the 250W per channel Canadian power house but it was just so much more musical. Vocals and guitar, keyboards and piano, pretty much everything sounded more real and live with so much more emotion.
There is hardly any info on the net about this amplifier but some information can be found here. Requires translating unless you can understand Japanese!
