Ok new turntable, waiting for my phono stage, I thought let's play the vinyl through a DAW ( digital audio workstation ) . I plugged my tonearm leads into the 'Mic Pres' on the Model 5 , configured the RIAA in the digital domain, and then outputted the signal back to analogue, not the vinyl purist approach, and the results!
Well surprisingly good, super quiet and an incredibly dynamic sound, I will get some more leads made up with different loading and continue to experiment.
Keith

It does seem a bit pointlessly contrived though matey :).

What phono stage are you getting Keith huh, huh ?

I think Meridian do this on some of their pre amps as standard - or used to.
All the analogue inputs get converted to digital including the phono stage.

Yes, I think so too - but then Meridian do LOVE their digital ;).

Needs must mate! I will try loading the cart by adding a resistor to the leads, three phonos to consider, Ralf (Audio Projekte ) is working on something, David Wright has promised to lend me something until his design is ready and I there may be something quite novel from that chap I told you about ,we shall see, vb,Keith.

Cool :)

The RIAA in the digital domain is a novel idea though :)

Not loading the cart tilts the balance, I will try some different values and report back, vb Keith.

funny keith, today i was, and going to try my phono stage via my dac to the pre, as to create a playback ADA SEE HOW IT SSOUNDS,
nando.

N Hi, this is a photo of the 'Sonic Console screen, you can see the RIAA curve, I have to get the loading right, and tweak a bit,
Keith.
