I am currently designing a new plinth for my Garrard 401 / Origin Live encounter mkii / Kontrapunkt b cart. I wondered if anybody had tried damping a plinth with kiln dried sand built into pockets in the plinth. If so with what results? Any comments will be much appreciated. Or if anybody else has comeup with a 'mega' design I would be plaesed to learn about it.

Interesting idea, are you going to build a mock up to see how it sounds ?
My next Garrard plinth will be 2 peices of Panzerholz with a 3mm Acoustiblok sandwich in between.

Thanks for the input. I am also considering a sandwich of 30mm hardwood for the turntable with a separate 30mm slate armboard.

I will probably try it in my existing plinth before making anything else.
