As a trade member, but also an individual who likes this stuff.I sometimes find it hard to bite my lip, when I see requests from members asking for comments regarding the performance of certain components.Over the years, A huge amount of used components has passed through my hands. Some has suprised me, a LOT however, of highly reviewed components has left me wondering what drugs the reviewer was using at the time of the review.I would like to respond with my experiences, but Im aware that ANYTHING I say here may be interpreted as a route to "getting an earner". So for the most time I remain silent. One thing I will say though is dont buy ****** speakers, they are overpriced and overated more than any other product!!!

I like people being able to be whoever they want to be on the internet, hidden, open whatever.

I don't like hidden agendas though.

Tough one isn't it?!

Woof Woof ....

If someone is 'in the hifi trade' then I would prefer a declaration of any vested interest that could be implicit in their post. If that is tedious to do for each and every post, then a general statement is worthwhile.

Either [I am a HiFi dealer / manufacturer] or '<link to my company>.

I value comments based on commercial as well as recreational experience.

Declaration: I have only recreational hifi experience

These ones?

Hi Ditton

There is /or should be no difference in ones experience . You listen ,you like /you don't or it dosn't work so you try to find out why . If you can't so be it. All experience is valuable . However there are those who only have a commercial ear and a commercial bias . I for one do not. I work with the above ideas/guide . So Ditton your opinion/experience if qualified has much worth IMHO.

Hi,
It's about the enjoyment of music, I think. That plus the delight of scratching an itch. Switching between suspension of disbelief and getting dirty with kit; between using my senses and using my brain.

Its also about trust, and wanting to trust, the opinion and advice of others. That helps the brain bit, and can also be a stand-in for the senses although I'm sure we all agree that its your own ears that matter.

On the topic, I do hold some 'vendors' in high regard wrt their opinion, as I do others, but I would resent discovering that a 'neutral' was a 'vendor', much rather that was pre-known.

Thanks for the comment - I'll now check out your 'wares' with a smiley face :)

just wanted to add that I haven;t voted yet.

It is all about trust, as well as about disclosure. This is a web forum, and as far as I know, no one cares that I'm a dog. In fact, the HMV has given us dogs good reputation.

If I worked for HMV, I guess I dont need to declare that for most all purposes here. If I worked on the reception desk at ****, that well known speaker manufacturer, its maybe, prob not.

If I had invested lots of my hard earned dosh in some fancy hifi, even though I'm not in trade, I might behave as though I had a vested interest in persuading all you lot that I was very very wise in buying that fancy hifi, and its nearest rivals are just a con.

I guess that's why we have a sig - and yes, I've remembered to turn mine off!

I BELIVE AND STATE OUT loud , IF YOU ARE A DEALER INDENTIFY YOURSELF, NO BULLSHIT OR PRETENDS, and when you sell some of your goods the buyer should know who the hell you are, as for having your website as a sgnature is very helpfull to all or are you learning rules from ebay and paypal OR WHTTTTTTTTT?!!!
nando

I will reply to Nando's rant on the 19th of this month ,next Friday.

D Louth

There's no need to reply: you are the worst known offender here. I asked you if you had ever considered a career in audio sales well before you were "outed". The only reason why I asked you is that your expressed "opinions" and the way in which you appear to think are typical for a dealer (i.e. mildly bonkers & very frothy).

i will look foward to his reply on the 19th at the show, it will be very interesting ya, very interesting, hope you have a temper like the spanish, euro 2008 champions ,like me. we do know who we both are, mine is a pint and you are buying, after all you owe me, and the rest on this forum.
nando

Let me think - would I rather read on this forum the posts of nando (as above)
or those of 'The Devil'
or the considered replies of D Louth?
Difficult one that.
Not.
