The NOS DAC clearly went through a period a couple of months back of plenty of hype. Now we've got past that, and had time to play with a few, I'm curious about the general concensus, especially as lots of people here seem to have now heard one.
I believe I even remember reading that WM had been playing with one.

Thoughts?

As for me, mine replaced the Naim CD5i I used to have, and I love what it's still doing.

I love mine, had it since last december. Needs a decent psu though, I made one and Im making MKII after some experimenting at the weekend. Value for money says I.

I'm a relatively recent NOS DAC user, having bought the Derek Shek DAC a few months back. I don't care to over-analyse kit, but it's turned out to be very open sounding, organic and listenable to the extent that I now divide my listening between CD and LP, where previously I rarely reached for a CD at all. My old Arcam Alpha 9 was detailed but not exactly soulful (for which read 'rather polite') - the NOS DAC gets closer in musical terms to my NA Spacedeck than I'd anticipated. Vinyl still rules, of course, but I can honestly say that I enjoy listening to music through the NOS DAC. Very recently I have bought Derek Shek's upgraded PSU, which does lift the NOS DAC's performance quite a bit, particularly at the bottom end. For the price, I could not ask for more, particularly as the Shek kit is so superbly finished (and very small). Very highly recommended indeed!

Cheers
