SOLD: Project "Tube Box" MM/MC
For sale:-
Project "Tube Box" with separate PSU in excellent condition, boxed. Current RRP £299.99
This unit is regarded as being highly tweakable if you know how, HIFI World ran an article on sonically succesful mods.
This box has been "professionally" upgraded by an engineer who advertises in HIFI World. The modification involved removing the standard op-amps and fitting sockets to allow different op-amps to be used. The main board currently has op-amps from "Analog Devices" installed which have a superior specification to those supplied as stock. Op-amps from the likes of Burr Brown could be used if you were feeling adventurous. This modification was originally published in HIFI World.
I have also fitted a set of high quality Svetlana ECC83's tubes over the stock Project tubes supplied. These will be supplied along with the Svetlana tubes as part of the sale. There is also sufficient room for tube dampers to be fitted if required, but the Svetlana's were matched and selected for low microphony so superb performance is a definite.
The unit could be returned to standard spec in a few minutes by replacing the Analog Devices op-amps with a new set of Texas Instruments op-amps originally supplied, and re-fitting the Project tubes, but who would want to?
The unit has adjustable loading for MC and fixed for MM and is in mint condition with box.
Total spent on the unit to achieve current spec was £355.00, I am asking for around £170 or best offer. Final sale price will include insured P&P.
