has anyone had any experience on using quoter wave cabs with open baffle?

How can you have a quarter-wave open baffle, Nando?

castle winchers design in the late 60's they made the desing of both, how ever tannoy done theirs for live concerts not via quoter wave but with open buffle wich ricki lee jones used in her cocerts, i have a friend that has those castles,
