So, there I was this morning, driving along, listening to DRS2 (the classical bit of Swiss Radio). First of all, a great double harpsichord concerto by Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach. Then an astonishing Gluck aria by Cecelia Bartoldi (boy, can that woman sing!!!). So, straight on to Amazon Deutschland when I got home and ordered. Does anyone else have these problems? I should really give up listening to the radio, or leave it on the rubbish stations favoured by No.1 daughter.

Yep guilty as charged squire.
Mind you my worst sin is a couple of bottle of du vin shared, then a lurk around at ebay, then oh buggeroo, 10 LP's pop through the letterbox a few days later.
Ebay should carry an alcohol warning

I am lucky. WDR 5, the radio station I listen to most, has a regular world music feature between midnight and 2 a.m. If I was awake at that time more often, my wallet would suffer grievously. Fortunately, I'm usually too tired to listen.

About all I've ever heard on the radio that I rushed out and bought the next day would be the Szymanowski violin concerti. BBC R3 is often just a little too rarified for my tastes when I'm listening (Late Junction anyone? ).

(Late Junction anyone? ).

My most listened to programme. I record it most of the time (good 'ole cassette), and listen to it the next day. That, and 'Mixing it', 'World Routes' and 'Andy Kershaw' when i have time. I tend to tune in for specific programmes, and don't often have it on for random periods in the day - i'll listen to a CD in preference.

In fact, i only seem to listen to R3 now. Odd topical programme on R4 if i can be bothered checking the listings, and Gilles Peterson on R1 once in a blue moon. Oh, and Mike Harding on R2 sometimes.

I don't buy music mags anymore, haven't really seen TOTP or anything similar for aeons, and don't go to random concerts (bit of a boring f****r really), hence radio is the only source of fresh music to stimulate new purchases (other than internet browsing).

Must agree with Mr Monster and his many good reasons for listening to the wireless. I would also like to add Bob Harris , Charlie Gillett & Nick Barraclough who has keept me in touch with Country Music after I developed a taste for it whilst working in Dallas towards the end of the last century.

Bob Harris's Country
Bob Harris's Saturday
Nick Barraclough
Charlie Gillett

Best other prog on the radio but only if the lovely Charlotte Green is reading the report.

Auric

PS also love Late

You're obviously made of sterner stuff than me. I've been known to check none of my connections have fallen out when I've been listening to 'music' on Late Junction :D
