Following the recent posts in this section on Kraftwerk vinyl/CD's I found this item on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&?ViewItem&item=4731204486

This is a very limited fan club only release and is excellent quality. The important thing is that this is the 'second edition' with the correctly timed 'Live at Tribal Gathering' tracks (the first edition had the live tracks mastered too slow).

This is a great item to have. BTW: I'm not selling it, just thought you guys on here might appreciate the item.

... Damn it - just read the small print and feedback... it's some muppet selling bootlegs, not the real thing. I've been mugged for 7 quid!

Tony.

Thats happened to me before, turned out to be someone burning CD-Rs from what sound like >128K MP3s
Annoying intit!

Have you paid for the item yet? If not I think you should retract your bid, them trying to do people out of money selling dodgy copies is probably grounds for being kicked off ebay and a perfectly good reason for bid retraction. I had a look at the auction yesterday, looked like the genuine article to me and certainly seems like the seller wanted it that way.

Tony you should know better..they are counterfeits, not bootlegs.

Bootlegs are a good thing, and the music industry wants everyone to confuse the debate.

I must admit I missed the very small black font at the bottom of the page stating 'you will receive a plain disc in a plain sleeve' but before I posted the original message on this web site I emailed the seller and he stated that he had the original disc,...just failed to mention that he would be keeping that and sending out counterfeit's.
I would not pay for the item myself, I would contact ebay and tell them this seller is violating their policy on the sale of counterfeit material (as he is advertising other items copied to CD-R too). I bet they remove them ;)

OK good. The reality of this particular CD though is that it was a 'fan club' produced item so was manufactured using CD-R's. It does have a colour printed labels but if you have a label machine that's not difficult.
I am not justufying the sellers ethics or tactics at all just letting you know that with this particular item, even original copies will be privately produced CD-R's.

Got my cash back, but the twat has just given me a neutral feedback response - I've responded with a negative and reported all his pirated items to eBay...

Tony.

TW*T indeed!

This brings me to another niggle; sellers on ebay that will not leave feedback until the buyer has either received the item or left feedback.

Thing is, once the buyer has paid their money their obligations on the auction terms has ended. Therefore leaving feedback for the buyer should be matter of course.

The 'excuse' that sellers seem to give for delayed feedback seems to centre around,...'well we need to make sure everything arrives OK'.

What this really translates to is; 'we are worried that we might not get positive feedback so not leaving feedback first will aloow us negotiating power with the buyer so they do not leave us neutral/negative feedback'.

In short,..spiteful tactics!

ebay in many peoples minds is about getting as much positive feedback as possible but sellers are very often not concerned with accurate item descriptions, adequate packaging, or shipping in a timely manner. They often abide by poor principles in the hope that no-one will complain, when people do complain they back-track trying to put things right.

While I accept mistakes do happen and would always be willing to work things out with a seller, if the seller does not show any signs they have made appropriate effort up front then this should be indicated in the feedback. After-all, the feedback is there to protect other buyers.
