just brought back to life my old rega planar 3 which has been sitting in a cabinet for about 30 years, changed the belt and played 45s all ok . moved belt down to play 33 1/3 records. Started slowly then suddenly the motor switched in reverse and and started to play backwards. This is no joke. Put it back on 45 and it was OK.put it back on 331/3 and it went in reverse again.
I have read that These have a capacitor and a resistor issues that can go bad causing this..Can any one help ???

Sounds like a cap on the turntable psu. If you go to the Rega forum on VinylEngine you will almost certainly find someone has asked the same question. If not ask away.
