I could not stop laughing when I saw this, I remember five years ago the company only sold HIFI seperates, one can assume the idea behind this is to keep housewife's happy when their husband is out shopping

Yeah...I remember when RS prided themselves on only selling hifi seperates and stated so in their catalogues. Obviously Julian got too tempted by the electronics industry as a whole.

 

Markets change, these days the traditional HIFI seperates market is dying, people either want high end nice looking boxes or all ine one systems from crappy people like Bose.

If he didn't branch out RS would no longer exist. It is a shame but you can't really expect to be in business 25 years selling exactly the same stuff when you're in the technology industry.

There is one good thing though, the Dixons in Stockport closed becuase it could not compete with Richers.
