    Hi

Question for people better on computers than me.

SOme of the music on my PC is of a particularly low bit rate mp3. I'm going to re-rip them with a high bit rate, or FLAC, seeing as storage is so cheap.

Is there a quick way of doing this?

Since I have a big job ahead of me (probably 300+ albums in low bit rates) I want to make the process as streamlined as possible.

I am thinking of ways of deleting the old music and replacing.. am I missing anything obvious?

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I'd use iTunes and rip to Apple Lossless.
Good tagging, it usually finds the artwork and it works.
Given the universality of the software neither it nor the format are likely to disappear any time soon.

With that many discs though I'd also invest in a good external cd drive for the job.
    Cheap these days.

I use Exact Audio Copy. It'll guarantee a perfect rip every time. It can be fiddly to setup but there is a good detailed guide HERE

If thats too complex then use dbpoweramp.

I rip to flac and have at last count over 20 000 files from 2 200 cd's

    There you go then!

    I have used this before:
    http://www.freerip.com/

It comes with great features, and its fast compared to another ripping software i've used before. (pro version)
