rotel rb 981 with valve amp

Im currently using a rotel rb981 power amp and a rc 972 pre amp, im told that the power amp sound is greatly improved by using a valve pre amp, any suggestions or experience of this cheers oceanobsession

I haven't heard the Rotels, but for what it's worth a mate of mine has a valve pre-amp and a big solid state Musical Fidelity power amp, and it sounds wonderful.
