Subject: RAVE Amplifier and speaker launch update

As you know the new Russ Andrews RAVE 1 stereo amplifier and loudspeakers are due for launch on Monday, 10th May 2004. We have fixed the price at £199.95 for the amp and £299.95 for the combined pack comprising the amp, loudspeakers, YellO mains cable and KWIK speaker cable.

RAVE will be initially launched in the Hi-Fi and Home Cinema press. I'm sure that an amp which sounds so detailed and musical, yet is so small, will be irresistable to music and movie buffs. Don't forget you can play most sources through the RAVE amp: CD, MiniDisc, iPod, MP3 player, PC and Mac soundcards, DVD, TV or HArd Disc recorder.

We'll be promoting the RAVE package later in the PC magazines as it will be the perfect alternative to the usual PC speaker packages - the ones I've heard sound terrible in comparison with RAVE. John and James have been using theirs at home for about 8 weeks now - can we have them back please!

will contain all of the latest information about the new equipment. We have instructed the web agency to design a banner for our homepage for the launch date.

***IMPORTANT: Can I remind everyone that the products and the launch is to be kept SECRET. The press have been alerted prior to this date but I want to go for maximum impact on launch day.***

Regards
Russ

PS Thanks to James for coming up with names for the different finish options. The amp is available in Mercury and Carbon Fibre.

just phoned them up, cos i'm good like that. told them, just in case they didn't know, but i'd received an email all about RAVE.

and yes, sending the email to their entire customer mailing list was a mistake.

oops !

This stuff is not only wet behind the ears, it looks wet all over....just pulled out of the s(t)ink??

Hmmm, I'm far from convinced there. Looks like a deliberate marketing ploy to me (which seems to be working... ).

yes, chapter 1 in marketing for dummies. appeal to the ape brain in your customers by telling them not to do something.
cynical or what.
still it'd be good if it was a latter day nait 2 but somehow i doubt it.
cheers

they so blatantly did it on purpose!!

thats just 100% advertising to me!

Whatever Russ may or may not be, raving would not be an apt description, he is one of the most controlled people I have met in the industry. No one gets a house that size in a lovely area of Kendal by chance.

Leaked, internal E Mail? Not using that language it wasn't.

Aha, the giveaway is the URL in the email: r.vresp.com. The vrep.com domain is owned by Vertical Response, a viral marketing company based in San Francisco, and the link is clearly being used to increment a response count before forwarding the user onto RA's site. In other words, he's sending unsolicited commercial email (spam) to draw people to his new product page while pretending he isn't.

http://www.verticalresponse.com/ gives the full picture.

Cheeky bugger.

Well spotted Ian. As everyone might already know - sending unsolicited email to personal email addresses (business ones are exempt) is now illegal in the UK. Anyone tempted to issue proceedings?

I presume people recieving the mail are previous customers of RA, as in they probably didnt untick the box asking if you would like to recieve promotional material from the company. I dont think that would be unsolicited.

Damn. Let's get the gallows ready anyway.

Marketroids. The Spartans had the right idea, stick them on a mountainside at birth.

Those addresses were also at the bottom of the second email which took you to the homepage.

Thats quite sneaky as they will get a result of how many clicked on the links in both emails. I must admit I did think the email address was a strange looking one but clicked on it anway in a robotic trance.

Ive been had by Russ Andrews..........and thats a bad feeling. :(

You're not the first person to had. But then if people want to pay £80 for tiny peice of oak then thats their choice.
