scam alert??

Is there any chance someone could post a screen shot. Due to blatant misuse, ie some people spending far too long on it, Ebay has been banned. By the time I get home they've usually taken down the listing and I feel all left out

Has all the signs possible - seller hides his feedback, wont allow collection? (Who on earth wouldnt allow collection of that kind of item?) Will only accept money order... looks like the seller has removed the 796000 bid :D

- Seller only joined eBay a few days ago
- Seller is hiding his feedback
- won't accept collection, only money order (VERY suspect)
- value is far too low
- has stolen pics and specs from a genuine website
- Auction ends with the line "I wait your E-mail at [email protected] with your best prices for this grat speackers !" which is offering to sell outside of eBay and very typical scammers language (and poor English).

I notice now that several people have bid and then retracted with comments like "this is a scam" or users ids like "scam_alert" :)

lord - it's some B&W Nautilus 801 speakers. Clearly he doesn't actually have them and will just take the money and run

EDIT: reported to eBay, doubt they'll do anything though

The Joys of E-bay, pure muppetry, quite why people go potty for such tat is way beyond my limited comprehension, though strangley enough both items I listed on e-bay last year fetched more than the reserve.
Still it it gives you a buzz, why fly in the face of public opinion :)

Well it seems pretty clear that it's a scam but there's no proof from the listing that anything illegal's going on. Other than asking the guy if these speakers are actually in his possession, what can eBay do?

Well, he's breaking the eBay rules by asking people to e-mail him offers, ie selling outside of eBay. They could pull the auction on that basis alone. They also could likely pull his auction on the basis that he's only accepting wire transfers since that is one of eBay's given reasons for suspecting a fraudulent auction.

EDIT: looks like they've pulled the auction as the item is no longer a valid item :)
