Scanner buttons.....pls

Hi,

I' ve just got a new Packard Bell (1200 +) scanner.

The old mustek went belly up.

I've got this one working ok but the buttons on the front (which the mustek didn't have) won't work.

I've tried

1) re installing the s/w....both ways...

scanner then s/w

software first, then scanner.

the instructions are unclear.


2) Swapping the usb leads aroiund (it just uses the one usb lead for power off the port).

3) unplugging....then plugging back in after 30 seconds.

4) using the switches whilst scanning from the panel.





The computer won't recognise the scaner atm. If you click on the icon in "my computer" it say scanning software could not be found

The light on th scanner comes on.......+ like I say it scans from the panel ok.


Whats next to try?




I should say the old mustek complained of being not connected, which it was. Then wouldn't scan at all.
 
I have read the fucking manual......thanks for that man.

I have the same scanner and the same problem. I just use the panel and if I am using OCR software it works automatically through that.

I have had it some time and got used to it.
 
Interesting....

Thee are plenty of googled reports of HPs doing it.....not packards so much.

I used a down load from pb....it (they) worked for a bit...
