Slide guitar cd/album recommendations ?

Also any modern jazz type stuff ? Diana krall type ?

live unplugged guitar blues stuff ?

Just trying to build up my collection

Allman Brothers live at Filmore ,cant beat a bit of Duane Allman,
Johnny Winter, Roy Buchanan is worth having a listen to great guitarist.Jonny Lang ,Popa Chubby there must be 1000's but itll take a bit to beat Duane.

If you can find it - "Chicago The Blues Today"..look out for stuff by Homesick James (a relation of the great Elmore James, another exponent of slide as I'm sure you are aware).
Also from this side of the pond anything by Tony McPhee (sp?) eg "Gutbucket" whom i was priveleged to see perform in Manchester way back.

For acoustic blues slide, Mississippi Fred McDowell is a giant amongst men IMHO (on reflection, that's true for acoustic blues full stop (or should that be period?) - alongside Mance Lipscomb)

For something not blues, but still American, Chris Whitley is worth a butcher's. Try "Living With the Law".

Jerry Douglas I find to be a great slide player when guesting on albums (incl. Alison Krauss of course) but a bit hard going on his solo stuff.

Another more recent artist Chris try Derek Trucks does some really interesting blues with a real fusion of musical styles

For full on blues/rock Dave Hole is worth a listen - 'The Plumber' is my fave. For something a bit 'jazz noodley' Rob Ickes has a new one out here. For all round acoustic deliciousness, all available in hi-res downloads if that's your thing, then Blue Coast Records is well worth a good look round.

The Derek Trucks Band- Live at Georgia Theatre
Holly Cole- Dont Smoke in Bed, Girl Talk.
Barb Jungr-Love me Tender.
Patricia Barber-Companion.
All the above come highly recommended for music content and SQ
esp Barb Jungr which is amazing.

I also like to add Howlin Mercy by the late John Campbell, bloody amazing guitar playing. Think Tom Waits voice coupled with Texas blues.
