Hi,
I'm planning to buy some floor-standing speakers for my vintage Pioneer SA-706, but used ones. I don't think I want/need anything over 1000 bucks tbh.
Since I couldn't find a place where I could hear all the speakers I'm interested in, I wanted to ask about your opinion first.
Yesterday I saw a pair of Elac 2.0 f5.2 used for 600$, I could buy them but:
The room is around 30m2, these speakers are 86db @2.83v/1m, and it's not a very strong amplifier either. Do you think it's enough?
I'm not an audiophile, I've played piano for 10 years, I can play by ear any tonation, but I have a feeling that from a specific level I wouldn't be able to distinguish differences between higher-priced floor speakers.
At least I think so. Anyway, do you think these Elacs would do? Or it's better to look for something else, like FY501/2, Wharfdale Linton, Tannoy XT6F, Audio physics classic 5?
I'm a bit biased when it comes to looks, so I need to like the design first.
If it's about the sound itself, I like warm with a rich base and wide soundstage.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

Have you looked at vintage speakers to match the looks/age of the amp? If you're in the States there should be plenty of more efficient west coast style speakers that should suit your tastes, JBL springs to mind.
