I just found out about this program today. Its amazing, the big record companies are finally making a serious move with online music :)

Basically you sign up and install a small program. You then have unlimited free assess to the entire collections of EMI, AMG, Universal, Sony Music and others. Well actually they are still uploading, but there is a lot on there already.

There are banner adverts in the program that you can pay to get rid of, and you can not save the music to play on your i-pod or in the car etc.. So you can listen all you want at home but hopefully still buy it if you like it and maybe pay the fee to get rid of adverts.

The sound quality is pretty good, certainly better than 128 MP3, but not quite full audiophile level. Still, its good.

Despite all the music being on a server somewhere in the clouds, its incredibly quick too, like its on your hard disk. Very impressive.

I find the sound quality quite good really. Its 160Kbs Ogg. You might want to go in to the preferences and disable volume normalisation, as that might be upsetting the sound quality for you.

I too have been running this for a while. a point of note is that if too many people take up the free part of the system they will revert back to invite only.
Also if anyone has the sqeezebox 3 and visits PFM spotify thread on there is instruction of how to get the music coming through with the name of the track on the display.
I have also heard of someone who has bought a software package for £14 that records Spotify, but I would say this isnt a legal package.

    Hi,

I have been using it for some time as well. Not bad. There has been many items that are not listed but that's to be expected. But there is enough to keep the interest.

And I can't get the link to do anything except give me an error message! Unless it is because I am not a premium user?

I think that might be the case. It did mention something about sharing playlists.

Either way Chris just search for 'A Throw Of Dice', its the only album that comes up.

Been using this for a few months. Not bad. The library is a bit limited but I'm sure it will increase over time. They're due to add a 'Genius' option soon. If its as good as the iTunes Genius I'll be impressed.

Overall a good place to find that track you've had stuck in your head and useful for checking out music before you purchase.

Quality is decent and certainly not as a choppy as Last.FM.

Should also be available on the iPhone soon.
