spraying speaker stands ...advise pls?

Hi

I have a pair of speaker stands made out of mild steel (I think) and I want to get them sprayed in order to e bay them.

I have tried using off the shelf aerosol spray cans which are pretty hopeless.

I bought a Tooltech hand held spray gun witht the intention of completing the job.

Any paint sprayers out there who can give me some basic tips for the job?

eg good source of paint?
