It will soon be my birthday and SWMO is in fine fettle and has aked what I'd like - the kind of question one akways like to be asked. I am considering a Squeezebox (wireless). My laptop is WiFi enabled but my broadband connection is a wired Ethernet one.

Do I need to get a wireless Router (thingy) to allow the Squeeze Box to work?

If you want the flexibility to use your Squeezebox in different rooms or locations, you'll need a wireless router, unless your home is wired already with an Ethernet connector (RJ45) next to the intended location(s).

You can get a decent wireless router for around £30 (less for no name brands)

A couple of rooms were straeaming wirelessly at the Heathrow show with no detremental effect - Audiosmile for one (although they were using the Apple Airport Express rather than the SB)

If you buy music from itunes may be better off getting an Apple product as SB doesn't support itunes purchased songs ( DRM issue)

Thank you all for the helpful replies. I do need a router after all.

I find my SpeedTouch does the job great. SB will play iTunes tracks if you burn them to disc and import them.
