Still think F1 is boring?

Stealing from an employer is legal now? (not saying it's true BTW). Regarding McLaren's side I'm afraid I don't understand industrial espionage laws, so I can't answer.

Edit: if a property (piece of kit of documents etc.) of Ferrari has ended up in a McLaren employee's possesion after it's was stolen surely that is illegal.

Looks to me like one of the "back-room-boys" got sick of seeing the drivers getting loads of dosh and wanted some for himself.

I wonder how much else of this type of thing is going on that the teams never find out about.

Actually the F1 boys are very well paid among engineers. It's a hard, fast-paced job, but well rewarded (and very difficult to get into - there's huge competition to get the few graduate places each year). The teams go to quite extraordinary lengths to retain people - even to the point of setting up a hifi company to keep a top guy from going to another team.

To clarify... Udo Zucker worked for mclaren F1, and was "golden handcuffed" to Tag mclaren audio in order (partly - I believe his contract would have stopped him anyway) to stop him going to rival F1 teams on leaving mclaren. After a few years, his technical knowledge of F1 would no longer be leading edge and not enormously useful to competing teams nor damaging to mclaren, so once this time was up, mclaren divested themselves of the hifi business.

It would fall into the category of confidential information, which is regarded as a subset of intellectual property, which is no less property for being only on paper or in someone's head. Confidential information and know-how are often more important than patents in licensing deals.

Um, yes.

Make it a 10 minute race and allow racers to 'nudge' each other off the track, that'd do it ;).

So is it illegal or not?

BTW, I take it none of you have clicked on the second or third link, where JB & DC are alleged to be as good as LH. Perhaps you just don't care:D. I found it amusing, especially considering how competitive a couple of DC's cars were.

I would regard it as theft. Naturally it depends on the accepted standard of behaviour in a given sport. F1 teams clearly copy each other's ideas from simple observation, and that is regarded as OK (the sincerest form of flattery?), but this goes rather further.

Is F1 Boring

Fraid so with me, If you get excited over tyre changes go sit outside Quickfit

To ask if F1 is boring is to ask the wrong question. A better question would be "Do you find F1 to be boring?"

Personally, I love it. Taking yesterday's qualifying and today's race together, I found them quite gripping.
