I have always wanted to go on a bit of an adventure on the cheap and also something local. I have been studying google maps and I wonder.

Would it be possible to get from Stockport to Dublin without going on a road? My plan is to cycle down the path of the mersey then via the ship canal until it becomes the mersey again in Warrington. I reckon this will be a 60 mile cycle, then get a boat to dublin.

My question is would their be too many obsticles in the built up bit?

Just wondered if anybody has experience of this area, I know the mersey valley in south Manchester well but thats it.

Whats the fun in that? M60, east lancs, liverpool. My idea was to do something a bit more unique with obsticles in the way, only on a simple and local level.

From the way you describe your cars I would have thought Dublin and back would be a major achievement!

The main thing wrong with my Fiesta is the driver  Oh and the clutch. I am keeping it until I find the perfect car, that way I won't be rushed into anything. On the hand I am only doing 20-30 miles a week atm.

I would have to cheat where I have to. I know Stockport for example you cannot get to the banks of the mersey as it is all built up or over. But I think from Heaton Mersey onwards its pretty much all countryside.
