I as some of you know hve the Pure Sound A-8000 cd player

While listening this evening i started getting a horrible crackling coming through the speakers, jumped up turn things on and off tried other sources cables etc narrowing it down to the cd player.

So i thought id try it through an external DAC via the coaxial out. I connected said cable the crackling stopped disconnected the cable Crackle Crackle.

The DAC isn't even turned on yet the crackling stops as soon as the coaxial is connected (hmmmm) Earth related problem maybe ?

Any ideas folks please ?

Chris

Or possible valves going/gone ?

Looks like the cdp is on the way out _( valves test ok so it must be output board component related. I cant be arsed to sort it out so.

CDP/SACD recommendations ? 600 budget - Looking at more main stream stuff MF A5 maybe or higher end Marantz

If you are anywhere nr Derby take it to Colin at Chevron Audio I am sure he will sort it for not a lot of money.

Just a follow up Guy Sergeant of Pure Sound has been fantastic sorting the problems out with my CDP. Nothing has been to much trouble everything has been dealt with straight away with no fuss.

Given the level of service i have had from Guy I will certainly be looking at other Pure Sound products in the near future.

If you have an eye on this forum I thank you for all your help Guy !!

Chris
