Perhaps the earphones sound better?
It's a little odd and quite a disservice to Spendors of yesteryear for the company to put the rather modestly priced D7 (accounting for profit margins at manufacturer and dealer level) as their best ever speaker (Just because they may use more up to date drivers doesn't make them better by design as a complete system).
I may have the chance of an audition when I visit a high end dealership in January to demo my own speakers, so will be interested to see (and hear) if the D7s are just another slender fashion led floor stander or speakers of substance.
Whatever the outcome, the marketing department at Spendor must be very embarrassed with their Faux-Pas!
