I don't like the idea of having all the wires going in to close, I know people are always over loading those 4 way extension blocks but with this you could easily have lots of loads of upto 8-13amps each all joined next to each other. Would it not get too hot even before the fuse blows?

    Clever idea though.

looks fab.. love the idea, and the implementation of the multi way socket idea. I also like the notion of them being modular, so getting USB adapters and so on looks very simple.

However, could only ever come like that, and would never be something that could be terminated by a home user. Also suspect its not something that would be used on a high current device like a heater, or hairdryer. But could find use in many other appliances.

    Thats the obvious thought.

I just hope people have got the gumption to use the V=IR stuff etc etc.

Also as you say those wires a really close.

what relevance does how close the wires are have to do with anything?

the mains doesnt jump out of one wire and onto the other

its worth pointing out that the wires inside your average 13A mains cable press against each other all the way along their journey from your wall to your appliance.

Cant possibly see where the argument about proximity comes from.

Quite. The real problem will come from heat - a 13A fuse can run to about ~2w continuouly without failure, and what about the rotating contacts to make the concept work (internal flex I doubt could work acceptably).

Nevertheless a very neat concept, and quiblles are something to be worked out as protoypes which it'd need to meet BS -EN whatever it is. Bravo.

The multiple wires into one thing is nothing new, seem them before but they were always sold by those discount chains and always wodered how save they are.

It's a royal college project, he'll have all the regulations worked into the design. It's not some half arsed uni course....

It isn't in any way an improvement over the standard plug(which incidentally has been around a long time because it works!) other than it lies flat in a bag.
It comes in 2 parts for a start, there are heat issues in that adapter(like all adapters) and seems to be moulded and not user replaceable too. Nice bit of a restyle but hardly revolutionary.
