    hi all, this will be a boring thread, but in my experience over the years, "happy times sad times" i always found that no matter what or who let you down, music was always there for you or should i say me,,,,,hi-fi equipment was always a thrill it still is, but music through out the memories of life experience that you may have had always remain in your soul, for me it is a vital part of my life , when you are down or up it will always be there forr you, well done to those of you who manufacture all this wonderfull equipment to be able to enjoy "music"

    It's why we are all here, nando :)

    Music hath charms to soothe a savage breast,
    to soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak

    The Mourning Bride (1697), Act 1 Sc1. William Congreve.

    After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.

    Just for Nando - was picking-over some Shakespeare this weekend, and of course the obvious jumped out: the opening of Twelfth Night:

    If music be the food of love, play on;
    Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
    The appetite may sicken, and so die.
    That strain again! it had a dying fall:
    O, it came o'er my ear like the sweet sound,
    That breathes upon a bank of violets,
    Stealing and giving odour! Enough; no more:
    'Tis not so sweet now as it was before.
    ..

    Ah, I know what you mean. Songs that speak to your soul. The problem I have is that whenever life calls on me to say something profound... all I can think of is song lyrics! The great songwriters are always able to say it better than me!

    re. having just gone through a pain consuming but muched enjoyment self testingof my three turntables, o.k. they all had different carts.
    test one: THORENS 123, SME 3009 DH, SURE V15 MSR;
    TECHNICS SL 1600 MK 2, SME 3009 ,AT34,
    GREAT they both were, very enjoyaible i must say, after a few weeks i have decided to sell the technics and boxed up the thorens, why you may ask ? well when i first brought an AVID VOLVERE IN CHROME , about 13 years ago, with an SME 309 AND AT OC09ML, have in mind that it had being put away for the best part of 8 years, throug carefully setting up, it was bliss to my earss, not that the others were n ot, wonderfull they are,but once again is that FULCROM point, so that will now be my main vynil source, oh bless :)
