The ultimate av accessory!!!

MF Nu Vista Blue LED lense clarinet wars edition!!!

Ah the naive :p

They're to be used with the THX Optimode option on THX certified DVD's. I'm not too sure what it's used to calibrate but that particular screen involves Blues and Pinks.

If my g/f found me with those on whilst fannying around with my equipment (oooer :D) I reckon she'd be rather worried.

I'll take two pairs please.

It's a really dull answer, but...there's special test patterns for setting the Colour and Tint controls on a telly or projector. Looking at the pattern through the blue filter leaves an image made of light and dark blocks; you see them change brightness when you adjust the Colour and Tint controls. The correct setting is when certain blocks are the same brightness.

The thing is the test discs come with a piece of blue filter gel, so to buy special "I'm George Lucas's best mate" THX glasses really marks out that person as an anorak of the first order

Oh come on people!!! That last one was funny!!! No, just me? I'll get me coat....

Is this the THX thing that you get on dome THX certified DVDs? I think i've got it on my T2 DVDs. No blue filter gel though!!!

"THX Optimode" is the little section on some discs DVD movies.

Quite correct - there's no filter gel comes with that because it isn't a full test disc. There's also been some talk about the Optimode test patterns being recorded incorrectly on certain discs. Best to use a proper set up disc like AVIA or Video Esstentials which both come with the blue filter gel.
