Time to leave the Country

Hi Dev,

It was only a matter of time before it happened. Look on the bright side, they are only doing one UK date.

To be far to them, they did sell a lot of records in a short period of time. It would be interesting to see how they are received by the public.

Take That reformed and have gone from strength to strength.

I actually had a lot of respect for them when they came out...

but I think they're just cashing in this time tho...as they're supposed to be gettong 20 million each!

yeah, but they haven'tgot any new material or anything - they're even releasing a greatest hits cd...which (tho, I haven't checked) I assume they've already done in the past...

In fairness soem of its ok for a bit of background listening....pleasant enough.

What I saw of the renunion trailer wasn't very encourageing.....girating bodies, usual flashing/fleeting camera shots (I am getting hacked off with that).....screamed lyrics.

Maybe its just me finishing a shift with a chesty cough (again) ....kinda made me realise i'm not 21 any more :(. Then again i doubt it would have done anything for me when I WAS 21......

How on earth is their record company going to get any return on this sort of investment?

I'm all for recycling (and record companies are renowned for this:D) but they were not that good the first time round and they haven't been practising much as far as I can tell.

Wouldn't have thought practising would make 'em any better!

Graham.

I'm not sure - but I guess it's down to the gigs and related merchandise..?

I always like it when they say "we're reforming the band", when not one of them can even play the spoons! durrrrrh..... erm, girl power!

I bet their carbon footprint is the size of Birmingham, ecologically they are a disaster with all that crap output, still as long as they've got big houses Bentleys and nice handbags

Should that story even be on BBC's "Entertainment" page? :)

Hi,

They have only released 3 albums. There hasn't been a greatest hits release. So a potential money spinner.

Advertising, for the lp (isnt spice girls greatest hits an oxymoron?) and third partys . The ticket sales and merch will go towards the tour cost.

Hi,

The figure of 20 million is the amount they are expected to earn from the tour in dollars. That's around £10 million. A nice little earner.

The potential is there for this to be a huge moneyspinner. In their hayday they sold a lot of records in a short space of time. Interest in the band, at the time was massive. It was a worldwide interest as well. We will after see if it takes off again.

If it goes well, the girls, the management team, the promoters and the record company will be winners.
