I was thinking of using a pair of jr149's with my telly to improve the sound quality a bit, but I'll need an amp that's physically very small as everything's packed into a small corner. Did consider looking for a 2nd hand t amp but the Rogers speakers are not sensitive so maybe not a good choice. Budget = miniscule, loose change :D.

The jr149's are great btw, only got them on a whim recently and they're ace, although everyone laughs at them cos they look stupid :).

theyre great speakers, so take no notice!

not shielded for tv use, and too good for that anyway IMO!!

I'd go for some retr0-chic to go with it...

Luxman, Sansui, amps of that nature. They look great, sound great - the only down side being the components are elderly.

*edit*
not small, but powerful and cheap...
and cool is better than small anyway ;)

If you are using JR 149 with TV you really need to take the digital output from the TV and use a separate dac then a very clean amp perhaps a vintage or contemporary Sugden.

A&R A60 for about £50 will pair up nicely.
Same vintage as the speakers and if your lucky you might get one to match the wooden tops of the 149s.

Cheers Dev, the little I've heard them I was impressed. It's a great and underrated make.

Also, classic Sansui is relatively unknown in the UK by our audio fans and its a make that has shown real quality

The Sansui I've linked to is a real classic, shown by the interest shown at the bottom of the advert from an audiophile in the far east. I was 1/2 tempted by it myself.

Great suggestions! I love the look of that Sansui and am very tempted, and I've read lots of positive things about older Luxman amps (but have never heard one), and am familiar with the A60 and being slim it would fit where I'd want it.

Lots to think about, thanks. :)
