Some components that I have are hard wired with cheap twin flex manis cables.

I am rewiring them with 20 amp, 3 core cables with double screening.

What do I do with the earth wire and screening?
Is it okay to ground them to the chassis?

    Thanks

is the equipment double insulated? if so then " it is not permited to connect any exposed conductive parts to the protective conductor (earth),reason being in the event of a fault to earth else were its possible for parts to become live that aint designed for it.
As for wot to do with the screen, conect it at the plug end olny

    Good thing I asked!
All of them have 'square within a square'. The tuner also has a symbol with a 'D' in a circle. So I will leave the earth and screening un-connected and insulated at the equipment end.

Thank you both very much :)

The Sony ST-SB920 analogue tuner is only 12W with a puny 4.4x3.7x3.7 cm transformer. Feels a bit silly connecting a 20 amp cable to it. Still, the the double screening and ferrites would help I guess
