A really good friend of mine here owns a NAS Spacedeck with a Mentor arm. One from the very first series, non-commercial, purchased directly at Tom's place, many moons ago. He described him as a passionate yet humble little man. Back then he had some huge handmade speakers and Quad monoblocks in his main system.
The deck sounds still as good as the first day, drop dead silent black backgrounds and long fatigue-free listening sessions. I love its low-torque motor, the human touch of just pushing the platter and stop it with your finger.
Simply gorgeously made and built to last (outlast!) us all. Must arrange a "homage" session soon.
I'm very sorry to hear that. His turntables have given lots of people, including me a lot of pleasure and I will have a drink too him listening to the deck tonight.
Stuart
