I saw this on feebay and just wondered what it was, poss a RD40?

It's an RD40 with a low-end generic arm, possibly a Mission 774LC, AR or Revolver (all pretty much the same thing). RD40s tend to go over-value in my opinion, it was a budget deck and not that great, if you are planning on bidding, bid less than a second hand Rega for it.

Tony.

Dont worry Im not bidding I came across it looking for RD11s and became curious. I just want a cheapo deck to play with as Ive a diy phono to experiment with and a mate with 1000's of LPs at my disposal.

The key element of a good turntable is a sprung suspension platter, isolated from the plinth and motor.

Before the Rega, budget Linn, et al owners start hopping up and down in indignation, they cannot compare directly with a top class sprung chassis design, even though they do give excellent results to many happy owners.

There is more than one way to skin a cat ââ'¬â€œ Nottingham Analogue and Garrard 'spring' to mind (or more accurately, they don't...). There are many good non-bouncy decks out there.
